FAQs

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions.

What are the different programs used for?

We utilize several programs for various purposes:

  • ScoutMap - This is the official web-based tool for Scouts WA, designed to manage youth membership, medical records, and events.

  • Terrain - This web-based platform enables youth and Leaders to apply for and track badge progression.

  • Operoo - Currently, Carramar Scout Group continues to use this tool for certain events (it manages offsite activity consent and medical records). However, it will be gradually phased out as ScoutMap becomes the primary system.

What are the membership fees?

The membership fees for Carramar Scout Group consist of two components:

  • Scouts WA - Branch Fees - These fees are communicated annually through ScoutMap and support the operations of Scouts WA, including expenses such as insurance.

  • Carramar Scout Group - Group Fees - These fees help cover the costs of managing the group, which include equipment repairs, replacement gear, badges, activity shirts, scarves, and some expenses for each section.

Why are parents / families always being asked to help?

Our volunteer leaders, who are truly remarkable, dedicate a significant amount of their time to enable us to run exceptional programs. However, we need support to help them provide the best outcomes and opportunities for your youth members.

There is an age-old saying: "It takes a whole village to raise a child," and this perfectly aligns with our scouting principles. Involving everyone, including families, in a constructive way around the youth fosters positive role models and values for our scouting community.

What is involved in becoming a parent helper?

If you're interested in regularly assisting with youth activities, please refer to the link above regarding "How to register as an adult helper/volunteer."

The steps to follow are:

  • Register your interest.

  • Apply for a Working With Children Card (Our Group Leader can sign).

  • Scouts WA will send you a Police Clearance to complete.

  • Once cleared, log in to the Scouts Australia training portal and complete the mandatory modules on child safety and general health and safety.
