Joeys

Joey Scouts gather weekly during term time as a dedicated Joey Scout Unit, proudly donning their section’s uniform shirt, the scarf of their local Scout Group, and a woggle to keep their scarf secure.

As they embark on their adventures, Joey Scouts are encouraged to embrace new experiences, delve into emerging interests, and revel in the activities they have chosen themselves. This section places a strong emphasis on the symbolism of Australian nature, using our rich and varied landscape to expose Joey Scouts to new challenges and activities.

One of the greatest joys of being a Scout lies in the great outdoors; Joey Scouts go camping, explore new destinations, engage in adventurous activities, and expand their understanding of the world. By connecting with nature and learning outside, Joey Scouts begin to envision and discover more about themselves and their surroundings.

The pinnacle of achievement within the Joey Scout section is the Joey Scout Challenge Award.

CUBS

Each week during term time, Cub Scouts gather for approximately an hour and a half filled with fun and exciting adventures. They play a role as part of a Patrol (a small team) and a Unit (the entire group of Cub Scouts).

As they progress, Cub Scouts begin to choose their own adventures and take on greater responsibilities within their Scouting journey. They delve deeper into nature and their communities, fostering an understanding of their obligations to both. Their activities encompass sports meetings, engaging visits to fascinating places like factories and fire stations, as well as trips to the zoo and museums. They also learn bushcraft skills and how to fly model airplanes—some even have the chance to fly in actual airplanes.

And that's just the beginning of what Cub Scouts do!

Scouts

As Scouts, young members engage with the Plan>Do>Review model, allowing them to manage their activities independently within their Patrol groups. This fosters a greater sense of responsibility for themselves and others while encouraging them to step beyond their comfort zones.

In Scouts, leadership is gradually transferred from adults to Scouts themselves, empowering them to steer their own direction. With the necessary support, Scouts embrace new challenges and interests, gaining a sense of accomplishment, learning from their mistakes, and overcoming various obstacles along the way.

Creativity plays a vital role, enabling Scouts to discover innovative solutions to problems as a Patrol while expressing their evolving identities. Through this journey, Scouts gain insights into their personal priorities and focus their energy on their passions and interests.

Youth involved in Scouts cultivate confidence and learn essential skills in decision-making and teamwork. They meet weekly for approximately two hours at Scout Unit meetings, in addition to participating in numerous weekend activities. Members receive expert instruction in a diverse array of outdoor skills, along with crucial theories needed to handle life’s emergencies.

Every three years, Scouts have the chance to take part in the Australian Scout Jamboree, where they join 10,000 other youth members from across Australia and around the globe for an exhilarating 10-day camp experience.

Venturers

Venturer Scouts are encouraged to ‘look wide’ – seeking out adventurous opportunities that they may not have considered before, all while engaging in fun, excitement, and personal challenges.

They are urged to delve deeper into their interests through a variety of activities, such as exploring the wild landscapes of Australia, camping in snowy terrains, or diving in vibrant coral reefs; abseiling into limestone caves or scaling steep rock faces; and navigating white-water rapids or mountain biking through rugged terrain.

Venturer Scouts take the lead in shaping their Unit programs, supported by experienced and skilled adult leaders. Through their Unit activities, they enhance their leadership and planning skills, acquire essential safety techniques, cultivate a sense of belonging, and embark on personal growth journeys.

Every three years, Venturer Scouts have the chance to participate in the Australian Scout Jamboree, where they join 10,000 fellow youth members from across Australia and around the globe for an exhilarating 10-day camp.

rovers

By immersing themselves in the countless opportunities that come with being a Rover, young men and women uncover enjoyment, build lasting friendships, and embark on a journey of personal growth. Rover Scouts exemplify the true essence of Scouting, developing into well-rounded individuals ready to actively participate in shaping a better world.

Rover Scouts elevate their roles as engaged members of their local, national, and global communities, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges they encounter, tackling significant issues, and inspiring positive change.

Unit meetings offer Rovers the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities designed to promote social interaction, physical and mental challenges, as well as spiritual enrichment. Each Rover Scout Unit is distinct, choosing activities that resonate the most with its members.

Joining a Rover Scout Unit can pave the way for new friendships, thrilling adventures, and lasting memories, all while enhancing leadership and organizational skills.

Activities within Rover Scout Units are planned and executed by the Rover Scouts themselves, whether it's a laid-back weekend retreat for a few or a large-scale event involving thousands, or any combination in between!

Every three years, Rover Scouts have the chance to attend the Australian Rover Moot, gathering with approximately 1,000 fellow Rover Scouts from Australia and around the world for an immersive 10-day camp. There are also opportunities to participate in international Rover Moots and the World Moot, held every four years.
